2005-01-31 Integration of microvalves into complex fluidic circuits and
systems requires that those are built using simple, standard
microfabrication techniques. These techniques can be combined to
build a valve capable of driving high pressures, and that can be
extended to a wide range of applications. No bonding between
different materials is needed, and the resulting device is made
entirely from one piece. In this paper, the design, fabrication, and
testing of the described valve are discussed. In addition, a
mechanical model of its behavior is presented.

tratamiento de la calidad de suministro eléctrico y la predicción de
carga. Problemas de detección y clasificación de perturbaciones de
la forma de onda en la red eléctrica, identificación de patrones de
demanda energético, predicción de suministros, etc., pueden ser
tratados con satisfacción por las redes neuronales.

donde se precisa una medida precisa de la posición de una fuente
luminosa. Tal es el caso de un heliostato, un dispositivo empleado
en plantas térmicas solares de potencia que proyectan la luz del sol
sobre un foco distante centenares de metros. En este artículo se
presenta un nuevo diseño de un sensor para generar una señal de
alineamiento. Este sensor proporciona una señal pricisa proporcional
al angulo de incidencia de la luz. Un elevado factor de ganancia es
inherente en la estructura del microsensor. Como resultado se
consigue un dispositivo robusto y de bajo coste. La bondad del
dispositivo le hacen apropiado para un elevado número de
aplicaciones nuevas.

technologies, highly integrated control and programming platforms
drastically increases the performance of industrial control systems.
That is the case of Motronic, where the synergistic collaboration
between industry and academia has led to an advanced distributed
network control system. To be commercially successful, it needs to
have a low cost and to be robust, even if this requirement implies
that it is a custom design and not based on previously existing
commercial solutions. Use of standards and off-the-shelf products
lower development costs, but usually rise production costs. In the
paper, we show that, in certain applications, design of a new system
from scratch is more advantageous. This system comprises a set of
dynamically reconfigurable local controller nodes, a graphical
programming environment, a remote supervision and control system,
and a fault-tolerant fiber optical network. TCP/IP connectivity is
provided by the use of a local gateway. Motronic is currently being
applied in the integrated control of large production plants and in
energy and power management industries.
